Some storm damage can be easy to spot, such as when your shingles are missing or lying in the yard. Other times, it’s not easy to pinpoint. The preferred method is having a professional examine the damage and the impact left by the storm and measure the dents in your shingles. Walk around your entire house as you may only have hail damage on one side. The same goes for wind damage, except you’re looking for bent, misaligned and missing shingles. Also, be sure to check your downspouts because excess granules are another sign of storm damage.

If you feel you may need roof repair due to storm damage, call My Roofing prior to calling your insurance company. We can help you determine if there is enough damage to warrant filing a claim. If so, your insurance company will send an adjustor out to evaluate the damage and start your claim. We accept insurance claims that require roof repair or roof replacement. Should you feel that your insurance company isn’t treating your claim fairly, we’ll be happy to meet with you and your adjustor to discuss the hail or wind damage we see and what we feel the best course is to remedy it.

Although there are no laws as to how a storm damage claim needs to be handled, there comes a point where roof repair will cost more than a new roof. Once your adjustor evaluates your roof’s condition, he’ll let you know his recommendation. Keep in mind that you always have the right to hire the roofer of your choice.
